Public Meeting- 19th May 2022

The Council held a well attended public meeting to meet with its community and hear your views on issues and ideas for the village. This will continue twice a year going forwards. Public attendance is also welcomed at our bi-monthly Council meetings.

Annual Parish Meeting 19 May 2022

 

Old Denaby is a civil parish with a population of approximately 330 residents and the first mention of the village of Old Denaby is in the Great Domesday Book.

Old Denaby Wetlands, along with Hanging Wood, Peas Hill Plantation and Denaby Woods (better known as Bluebell Woods) are all designated as Local Wildlife sites. Part of Denaby Woods is classed as Ancient Woodland.

DID YOU KNOW:
Ted Hughes, who held the title Poet Laureate from 1984 until his death in 1998, spent much of his childhood in Old Denaby.

Julie Andrews’ mum (Barbara Ward Wells, née Morris) attended Old Denaby CE School.

New Footpath Bridge

update from Network Rail about the bridge works:

 • Start on site 22 March 2021
 • Main works starts - late April with the screw pile installation
 • Open footbridge to public early to mid-June (staircases only)
 • Completion on site - including provision of ramps and demolition of existing bridge - August
